The Collegiate at the University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg
The Collegiate at The University of Winnipeg is one of the few high schools in Canada offered within a university setting. The Collegiate is situated on the University of Winnipeg’s downtown campus and offers easy access to the city’s events and attractions. The Collegiate’s tradition is one of academic excellence and accessibility in an environment of critical thinking and community spirit.
The Collegiate offer a wide range of high academic courses including English, biology, chemistry, applied mathematics, pre-calculus mathematics, physics and social studies and an excellent selection of optional courses. Extra-curricular clubs and activities offerings at the Collegiate include Anime Club, Art Club, Debating, Photography / Media Club, Drama Club, Social Justice Club, Glee Club, Yearbook Club.
Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute, Winnipeg
The Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute (MBCI) is a private middle and high school located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It was founded in 1945. It has approximately 400 students from Grade 6 to Grade 12.
MBCI has a strong volleyball program: both men’s and women’s teams have won provincial championships. The band has also won the Optimist Festival’s Chairman’s Award.
Though MBCI is an inclusive school and has students of all kinds, MBCI’s culture is most informed by the Mennonite Brethren religious community—a strand of Protestant Anabaptism noted for its adherence to pacifism. MBCI’s culture is different from many stereotypical high schools; competitive athletes are frequently also members of the band or choir. Such practices are likely a result of the welcoming, community-oriented values of the institution.

As one of the larger schools in Manitoba, Maples Collegiate is able to offer a variety of courses and programs to meet the wide-ranging needs of our students. Students working toward their high school graduation can choose either a traditional academic route or explore vocational and alternative options. Maples proudly offers a variety of extra-curricular activities including golf, cross-country running, volleyball, soccer, basketball and athletics. As well, Maples hockey and football. Maples offers an outstanding performing arts program. Our performing choral groups, concert bands and jazz bands are open to students of all grade levels. To add to the musical programs, Maples has a vibrant drama and theatre programs. The school continues improving as it offers new programs like dance, broadcasting and career education.
West Kildonan Collegiate, Winnipeg
West Kildonan Collegiate moved into its new school building in March 2008. Apart from the academic programs, West Kildonan offers many courses such as Information Technology, Travel and Tourism, Technology & Applied Arts, Concert and Jazz Band, Choir, Business Education, Visual Arts. West Kildonan also offers unique activities that are not available in all schools. These are some activities possible: Dramatic Production, Astronomy Club, Girls’ and Boys’ Hockey, Ski Trip Opportunities, SWAT Team (Students Working Against Tobacco).
Collège Garden City Collegiate, Winnipeg
Collège Garden City Collegiate is a dual track high school, offering programs in both English and French Immersion. Garden City Collegiate has recently undergone an extensive renovation to include a beautiful naturally-lit Commons Area for students to study, eat lunch and socialize with their fellow students and staff. Garden City students can participate in Academics, the Arts, Technology, Applied Arts, Athletics, Community Services and many extra curricular activities. Garden City Collegiate offers an abundance of extra curricular activities including Activist Club, Band/Choir Trips, Baseball, Basketball, Blood Donor Clinic, Brandon Jazz Festival, Chess Club, Choral Fest, Christmas Concert and much more.

The Collegiate at the University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg
Nacel Canada HSP Inc. offers continuous support to participants. A local Coordinator will work with each individual student, including arranging their homestay and acting as contact throughout the program.
- Students aged 15 – 17 at the time of arrival
- 2 or more years of English language study
- Experience living away from home, maturity and independence
- An interest in learning about another culture and language
- A willingness to share in the daily life of a host family
- An open and flexible attitude which will allow the student to adapt to the school and host family environments
